IQNA – Several individuals involved in a recent terrorist attack targeting a mosque in Syria’s Homs have been arrested, the government said.

An explosion at the Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) Mosque on Al-Khodari Street in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood of Syria’s Homs on December 25, 2025, killed several worshippers.

The country’s interim government said on Monday that they have been arrested some 20 days after the attack on Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) Mosque on Al-Khodari Street in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood of Homs on December 25.

Militant group Saraya Ansar al-Sunna claimed responsibility for the attack.

It said its members had planted several bombs in the mosque that went off during Friday prayers.

The deadly attack drew widespread condemnations, including from Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center.

Al-Azhar underlined that those behind the terrorist attack are devoid of all religious, human and moral values.
